Currently I started to pick up html again in an attempt to make whatever this is, maybe I just need a little space to let my thoughts flow, share stuff about myself or something to keep my mind busy, so starting today I'll be working to create it here.
Must admit I'm hella rusty but nothing that can't be solved with practice, that being said, it'll take some time to really turn this into a good-presentable corner of my own so do bear with me until then.
Aside from using this place to share the daily entry from my diary I like the idea of making a small sort of compendium about stuff I like, composed primarily about biology.
Since I was little I've craved all kind of knowledge about all kind of life, especially those with relation with either the sea or fungi so this is my chance to return to my roots!.
This is actually in honor of a particular specimen of whale known as the "World's loneliest whale" or sometimes just Whalien detected around the year 1989 by military hydrophones.
So, what made this whale so special from the rest?.A unusual frequency.
You see, most of them communicate primarily via sound at lower frequencies, around 10-40Hz. This lead to believe they weren't able to listen to the high-pitched "voice" of dear Whall-e, leaving him to swim and sing in complete solitude.
Fortunately for our little Gal/Guy (Gender is still a mistery) and according to researchers it is likely that the sing can actually be understood as it does so with a lot of the same features of a blue whale song.
Quoting Christopher Clark, Director of the Bioacoustics Research Program:"Blue whales, fin whales and humpback whales: all these whales can hear this guy, they're not deaf. He's just odd."
Even after the good news tho, this little friend remains as one sort of a symbol to a lot of people representing loneliness or the feeling of being misunderstood constantly in this vast sea that is life, myself included.
This is basically the lore behind the name of the site, so, yeah, guess we can sometimes be some kind of whales but let's hope in the end someone somewhere will always be able to hear our songs.
